The difference

A metasearch site is not an online travel agency

You don’t pay for the same thing, and the guest doesn’t book in the same place.

Frequently asked questions

The questions we hear most often

Do I pay for clicks?

No. The direct connection to Google is included, with no fees and no cost per booking. In advertising (Google Hotel Ads or another metasearch site), a click that leads nowhere costs nothing either if you choose cost per acquisition: the metasearch site is paid only when the booking is confirmed. The pay-per-click model remains available if you prefer to test a channel another way.

Is a metasearch site the same as an online travel agency?

No. An online travel agency sells your units on its website and takes a commission. A metasearch site shows your rate among others and sends the guest to the source they chose, including yours.

Does Reservit take a commission on these bookings?

No. The software takes no commission on your bookings. Commissions owed to the platforms where you also sell remain due.

Can I keep a lower rate on my own website?

Yes. You apply an automatic markup on the channels you choose, which leaves the best rate on your official website.

Can I track what it brings in?

Yes. The dashboard shows spend, revenue generated and conversion rate, channel by channel.

Do I need to use the Reservit channel manager?

Yes. Metasearch distribution is a function of the channel manager: the rates and availability sent out come from there, and the link points to your Reservit booking engine.

Which metasearch sites can my rates appear on?

Google (direct connection included, Google Hotel Ads advertising as an option), Trivago, Tripadvisor, KAYAK, Skyscanner, Bing Hotel Ads and Wego are among the metasearch sites connected to Reservit. The full list is in the partner catalogue.

Where does the guest book after clicking?

On your Reservit booking engine, with no middleman. The booking lands in your calendar, and you receive the guest’s contact details with it.

Can I cap what I spend?

Yes. For Google Hotel Ads advertising and other metasearch sites, you set a monthly or overall budget. Bids adjust within that limit, never beyond it. The direct connection to Google costs nothing.

Can I remove a channel, a unit or a date range?

Yes. You remove a channel, a unit or a date range without touching the rest of your distribution. The channel manager can also close a channel below an availability threshold.

How much does a click or a booking cost on a metasearch site?

No rate is shown on this page: it depends on the channel, the season and your market. You get it during the demo, before any commitment. What you pay goes to the metasearch site, not to Reservit. The direct connection to Google is included, with no fees and no cost per booking.

How often are my rates updated on metasearch sites?

Rates and availability go out from your Reservit channel manager, which updates them with every sale. Each metasearch site then displays them at its own pace.

Is metasearch distribution included in the subscription?

Partly. The direct connection to Google is included with Reservit: your rates appear on Google and the “Book” button on your Google Business Profile opens your booking engine, with no fees and no cost per booking. To go further, Google Hotel Ads advertising is available as an option: it is paid by commission, per booking or per click, within the budget you set. Other metasearch sites (Trivago, Tripadvisor, KAYAK, Skyscanner, Bing Hotel Ads, Wego…) are available as an add-on module. See Pricing.

What about my property’s Google Business Profile?

It is the other way in: the “Book” button on your Google Business Profile opens your booking engine. It is included by default with Reservit. Local listings management (add-on module) is there to publish your property’s information and keep it up to date across listings and information platforms.

Will I get help getting started?

Yes. The Montreal team sets up your channels with you. The demo is run with an advisor, on a shared screen, using your own rates, with no commitment.
