Three ways to sell

Three ways to sell the same night

The same beds sell by the bed, by the dorm or by the room. You decide what is open, and when.

The bed in a shared dorm

  • Each bed sells on its own, with its own rate
  • An eight-bed dorm can hold eight separate bookings
  • A released bed goes back on sale without any handling

The whole dorm, sold as private

  • The entire dorm goes onto a single booking
  • Useful for a school, sports or association group
  • Its beds come off individual sale for those dates

The private room

  • Double, twin or family rooms, as in a hotel
  • They sit alongside the dorms on the same calendar
  • They carry their own rates and their own conditions
Allocation

Bed allocation, set once

  • Bed categoriesTop bunk, bottom bunk, single, wide bed: every type of bed is described once.
  • A filling orderYou set the order in which beds are taken. A dorm fills up the way you chose.
  • Automatic allocationOn booking, the bed is allocated according to your rules, without anyone opening the calendar.
  • Manual override at any timeA move, a group to keep together, a specific request: the bed can be changed by hand from the calendar.

Groups

One group, one booking

A party of twenty, several nights: it still fits in one booking.

  • One booking, several bedsThe group stays a single booking. Allocated beds, dates and balance are read in one place.
  • The list of occupantsYou can ask for the name of every person in the group, alongside the booker’s, at the time of booking.
  • Several payment methodsOne booking can be paid in instalments and with several payment methods. The booker’s credit card stays on file as the guarantee.

Long stays

By the week and by the month

Long stays, whether seasonal workers or students, carry their own rates and their own minimum durations, alongside nightly ones. A guest staying three months lives on the same calendar as the single night.

Consumables are attached to the bookings that generated them, and the stock updates as you go. An alert warns you when an item drops below the threshold you set.

Frequently asked

What we are asked most

Can dorm beds and private rooms be sold on the same calendar?

Yes. A bed in a dorm, a whole dorm sold as private and a private room are three selling units living on the same calendar, each with its own rates and conditions.

How are beds allocated?

According to the rules you have described: the type of bed and the filling order of the dorm. Allocation happens automatically on booking, and can still be changed by hand from the calendar.

Is the channel manager connected to Hostelworld?

Yes. Hostelworld is among the connected channels, with Booking.com and Expedia. The beds sold there come from the same stock as the ones on your site.

Can a group pay with several payment methods?

Yes. One booking can be paid in instalments and with several payment methods. The booker’s credit card stays on file as the guarantee.

Can lockers, linen and bar consumables be handled?

Yes, through extras and services. They attach to the guest’s booking and are taken off the stock, with an alert when an item drops below its threshold.

Does Reservit take a commission on bookings?

No. The software takes no commission on the bookings it handles. Third-party booking platforms do continue to apply theirs, under the contracts you have signed with them.

What Reservit does In short

Reservit is hostel management software, founded in 1999, with a Canadian team based in Montreal. It brings beds in shared dorms, whole dorms sold as private and private rooms onto a single calendar, together with online booking, the channel manager, payments, invoicing, housekeeping and the mobile app.

The software takes no commission on the bookings it handles: 0% software commission. It works by subscription, with ten modules included and unlimited users.

Dorms, rooms and bed allocation Three ways to sell the same night

  • Bed in a shared dorm: each bed sells on its own, with its own rate; an eight-bed dorm can hold eight separate bookings; a released bed goes back on sale without any handling.
  • Whole dorm sold as private: the entire dorm goes onto a single booking, for a school, sports or association group; its beds then come off individual sale for those dates.
  • Private room: double, twin or family, on the same calendar as the dorms, with its own rates and conditions.

Groups, long stays and payments One group, one booking

  • A group stays a single booking: allocated beds, dates and balance are read in one place.
  • The name of every person in the group can be requested at booking, alongside the booker’s.
  • Group payments: one booking can be settled in installments and with several payment methods; the booker’s credit card stays on file as the guarantee.
