Reservit Green

Using less energy, and measuring it

Reservit is booking and management software for tourism accommodation, backed by a Canadian team. The group has been running since 1999 and serves properties in more than 25 countries. Reservit Green brings together the steps taken to cut the energy its own operations use.

Servers, backups, network: a booking engine never switches off, and data centres account for most of that load. Two levers stay in a software company’s hands: the energy used in its own premises, and the way its teams travel.

Premises that generate part of their own electricity

The roofs of the group’s premises in France are covered with solar panels; the grid only tops up the difference.

The installation covers the whole available roof area. Output feeds the offices directly, at the hours when they draw the most. In Canada the lever sits elsewhere: lighting and heating.

Three actions under way

Nothing spectacular: equipment replaced, a travel policy, readings taken.

Rooftop solar panels

Part of the electricity used by the group’s French premises is generated on site.

Managed lighting and heating

LED lighting and smart thermostats in every office, Canada included.

Low-carbon travel

Cycling, walking and electric vehicles encouraged across the teams.

What that adds up to

Frequently asked questions

Are the solar panels installed in Canada?

No. The installation covers the group’s premises in France. In Canada, LED lighting and programmed thermostats are in place.

Does Reservit buy carbon credits to offset its emissions?

No. The work starts with cutting consumption in the premises, not with buying offsets.

Does using Reservit cut a property’s paper use?

Yes. Confirmations, invoices and arrivals are handled in the software, with no printing required.

Does Reservit Green change subscription prices?

No. Nothing extra is billed for it.
